Intern Experiences

Jack Plankers, North Dakota State University, Quality Intern 2015
I worked at WCCO from May 2015 to late July 2015 as a Quality Department Intern.  During my time there I got to know so many great people from a lot of different backgrounds.  Even though my stay was fairly brief and I was pretty new to the way everything worked in the company, everyone still took my opinions and my ideas very seriously.  It was nice to feel that welcomed and that important right away.

One of my favorite things about interning at WCCO was the diversity of projects and tasks that I was able to do.  From the on-the-floor training, to the everyday tasks, to the bigger projects that required a team of people, every task was important and fun to be a part of.  I really got a chance to take what I was being taught in the classroom and apply it in a career setting.

I truly could not have asked for a better internship at a better company.  I got to be a part of an expanding company,  was able to apply my education in a very relevant and meaningful way, and got a chance to work with some really great people.

Richard Juelfs, North Dakota State College of Science and NDSU, Engineering Intern 2013-Today
My internship at WCCO has been educational in many ways.  Not only has it reinforced much of what I have learned in my coursework, but the experiences here have made my time in the classroom more relatable and relevant.  Each experience is built upon the other, and this gives me a much broader understanding of the concepts and applications that I will use throughout my engineering career.

What I have learned about the personal interactions are not something that can be taught in a lecture hall.  From compromise to responsibility, it has been a huge learning experience.  There is no shortage of answers when I need guidance on a project or task.  I feel that I have earned the respect of my coworkers by asking questions when I need to and completing good, reliable work.

In my second summer here, I am often left to work autonomously until I need assistance.  This trust works well for everyone involved.  I have no doubt that my time here will make me a better engineer, employee, and person.

Navneet Deosi, North Dakota State University, IT Intern 2013 & 2014
I worked for WCCO Belting, Inc. as a MIS Intern from May 2013 until May 2014. My experiences with the company have been really wonderful. By working closely with the IT and the Marketing departments at WCCO, I developed strong communication, troubleshooting, team-working and analytical skills. The company offers a very friendly and safe work environment for all its employees.

According to me, it is really important to have a mentor/supervisor to guide an employee through all the details and company procedures until they become familiar with it. I was fortunate to have such patient and understanding supervisors throughout my employment period here.

With the constant growth that the company is undergoing, it offers successful job opportunities to its present and prospective employees. I have enjoyed every part of being an employee at WCCO.
