In your role as Lean Process Engineer for WCCO Belting, you are one of the primary drivers of our continuous improvement strategy and value-added projects. Since the launch of our company’s unique process improvement program in 2014, we’ve implemented over 1,600 of our employees’ ideas. You will be hands-on with the continued growth and success of this strategic initiative that directly impacts our output, WCCO Belting product quality, and the job satisfaction of our production workforce. PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:

Maintain constant surveillance over all of production manufacturing processes to make improvements that will reduce cost, improve quality, throughput and safety of the Operations work force. Individual is responsible for defining and supporting lean strategies and related continuous improvement programs, activities, and structures.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1. Responsible for the integration and deployment of strategic lean / 5S principles and other World-Class manufacturing methodologies;

  1. Tracks assess, support, and report progress with respect to the implementation and utilization of strategic lean engineering and other techniques within the organization;

  1. Assist in development of new lean engineering strategies by evaluating and prioritizing the requirements based on the inputs provided by the stakeholders within the organization;

  1. Identify and initiate lean engineering projects and coordinate them with production and other associated supporting functions;

  1. Assist in the document writing, operator training and production implementation of the strategic lean elements by providing technical directions and support to help facilitate learning activities;

  1. Actively participate in various activities related to process improvement to help ensure quality, throughput, safety and reducing cost abnormalities;

  1. Assist in the assurance of providing a safe, clean and organized working environment for all the employees working within the organization;

  1. Provide support to carry out functions that will help resolve unforeseen process, quality or safety opportunities.

  1. Keeps Supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective process management. Coordinates/communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and “team” approach.

  1. Performs any other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIREMENTS FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • Knowledge of operating methods and procedures as they relate to their department.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze system inefficiencies and identify ways to improve the overall performance of the organization and convince the team to make the necessary changes.

  • Achievement oriented, self-starter with a strong personal drive and initiative to excel.

  • Able to face challenges and demonstrate a high level of determination even if there are setbacks.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform assigned job functions in a manner which will consistently meet supervisor expectations.

  • Deals effectively and cooperatively with established policies and procedures.

  • B.S. Degree in relevant engineering field required.
